"The Clean Slate Cleanse workbook is not your usual health-guru fancy branded clever 'cleanse' program. I'm a skeptic generally, but I like this author's style. I've heard her speak at several wellness conferences and events I've attended over the past several years, and I've come to trust her authenticity.

Even for a skeptic on the fence, addicted to coffee and unwilling to give up my caffeine just yet, this workbook is a wonderful resource. There's more to this cleanse than just changing your food. I will get a lot of value out of the workbook, even if I don't "cleanse" (yet). There is no hype at all, no gloom and doom, and no food choices shaming.

This workbook gives you the What to do each day of the three weeks. It has a suggested meal plan with recipes in the cookbook companion book. It has a shopping list to help you know what to buy for which days, and how much you need of each item. The workook gives you a prep plan, to do a lot of the cooking for a whole week on one weekend day, and then planned over leftovers so you can have some of Monday's evening meal become the basis of Wednesday's lunch and so on.

The workbook goes on to tell you Why you should do this cleanse, and breaks it down ito daily lessons, bite sized pieces of information. You get to absorb this info as you're going along, so you don't get overwhelmed trying to read 700 pages of research and justification first, and then become so discouraged you don't even start. I've read too many of those books, do yourself a favor, don't read them, just read and follow along with this workbook. If I had found THIS first, I might be less skeptic and more ready to try it myself. Maybe by the end of this review I'll talk myself into it. The workbook also gets you to hone in on your Why for doing the cleanse, the goals you have and expectations of what you are looking to get from the effort. This can help when you start questioning along the lines of "What was I thinking?? Why am I doing this?" - go back and read what you wrote in the workbook for the answers to those very questions.

Then it gets to How - How to "do this", How to keep going, and How to face the challenges. The workbook covers that with exercises of Self Reflection, and very practical and very easy to do self care practices, to position your attitude and mindset for success. There is distilled wisdom provided to help the gentle reader have the gentlest cleanse experience possible. But hey, if Gentle isn't your jam, there are some optional "additional practices" that will take you off the gentle road and onto the fast lane - so there's something for everyone. And a way to repurpose the coffee you aren't allowed to drink. Enough said.

The practical side of a three week dietary modification are also spoken to in the workbook. What are you going to do when you want to go celebrate with friends, but the local favorite hangout doesn't serve twigs and acorns in a mushroom curry sauce? There are some very practical suggestions for sticking to the cleanse while eating out and socializing.

Lastly, the information is straightforward, compellingly presented, and well documented and researched - with references and citations provided for your own further verification, research and investigation into the topics.It really is compelling - and my inner skeptic's resistance is weakening. Not to mention, the cookbook is a delight in itself."

  • Lindsey Elmore’s workbook is an excellent accompaniment to her clean slate cookbook and cleanse. The workbook took me on a journey of personal exploration of my relationship with food. As is commonly said ‘you are what you eat’. Lindsey’s book helped me to explore my daily food choices through daily affirmations, meditations and current food science. After finishing the workbook, I feel like I am more mindful about what I eat on a daily basis. This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to improve their eating habits!
